Telepathy
🎉 Made for PROCJAM 2025 🎉
Telepathy
An experience of reading minds.
You've developed the ability to read the thoughts of those around you.
But, it is far from clear because not everyone thinks the same way you do. Some people have fully formed sentences of thought, some have fragments, some have emotions, some have images. Most have a mixture.
Pick a time and wander through the city, or choose a specific location to visit. Click on the people you encounter to get a glimpse of what's passing through their minds. It might be contradictory, confusing, deep, trite, or a little bit of everything.
Have fun exploring the minds of others!
Interactions
You can choose a date and time to explore, and can choose a location-- or just wander, and the location and time will advance as you explore.
When you're out, you'll see a grid of people. Click on them to see their thoughts, and click a thought to explore what it contains.
Background
This all came from a conversation, and is the result of a longer string of thinking about thinking. "What if you could read minds, but it wasn't like you'd expect?" I know many people dear to me think in completely different ways to each other-- what would it be like to be in their heads? What would it be like for THEM to be in my head?
Knowing enough to be dangerous about internal monologues and ways of thinking, I set out to club together a couple of projects I've been working on into something that generates: people, their internal conflicts about a selected set of nouns, and how they think about those things. I think my day-job of doing an internal web admin are showing, as it's less stylised and more data-forward-- a result of struggling to do far too much and keep it somewhat coherent.
Like with my Victorian Steamship generator, there is no generative AI in use here; it is seeded RNG, dice rolling, Tracery-inspired text mashing going on. Plus some massive lists of interactions and thoughts mashed together.
As before and always, I hope you enjoy it ❤️

Nice procgen little thing...though I wonder why I only encounter females...
Just funny game-jam things-- I used a massive list of first names I nabbed from Github and I noticed that the names were a bit odd, which was fine enough. But I didn't notice that there's no male-coded names 🤣 I've got just about 5,000 female-coded first names!
